The process of shaping metals into semi finished or finished forms by passing between rollers is called rolling. Hot rolling is a metalworking process that occurs above the recrystallization temperature of the material. The rotation of the driven rolls being utilized to feed the metal through the rolls by means of the frictional forces present between the surface of the rolls and sheet. This machinery is extremely practical but is also quite dangerous to work with.

When rotation of the rollers is activated the sheet exits at a given radius. There are different kinds of technology to roll the metal plate. The starting material is usually large pieces of metal like semi finished casting products such as slabs blooms and billets.
